Skateboarder and musician Sage Elsesser is the new face of UGG, starring in a campaign for the Tasman slipper shot by Chris Black. In an August 2026 interview with Hypebeast, Elsesser explained that his personal style has simplified into a uniform prioritizing comfort above all else.

Elsesser described his current daily outfit as a monochrome hoodie or T-shirt, wide-legged pants, and clean footwear. He said this approach is about ease and comfort, ease not in the sense that it's easy, but in that there's a certain energy that comes with feeling like it's not too laborious to find inspiration. He summarized his ethos as simple, but not easy.

The Comfort Uniform

A philosophy of comfort connects his dual identities. Dressing to skate and dressing to perform are both all about how the clothing fits and feels, Elsesser stated. For skating, he prioritizes enough leg room and light-feeling shirts, often sticking to a uniform of white T-shirts, much like a team relies on consistent fixtures to build rhythm. He credited his mother for instilling this value, noting she always wears flowy, comfortable clothing.

He expressed admiration for those who choose attire based on comfort rather than pure function. He loves when people are willing to wear something less because of function, but more because of comfort. To him, the greatest luxury is comfort.

Nostalgia and Color

Elsesser revealed his style is deeply nostalgic, drawn to vintage items for the history and unique feeling they carry. He cited a recent fascination with the color royal blue, linking it to the away kit of the Brazil soccer team he watched as a child.

When asked about the specific Chestnut color of the UGG Tasman, he called it a classic. Every brand has its brand identity. You think Supreme, you think red. You think of Burberry, you think tartan, he explained. He described it as a rich shade distinct from khaki or beige.

On the UGG Tasman

Elsesser endorsed the UGG Tasman slipper as a staple in his own rotation, calling it a perfect slipper and a classic model whose lining defines the shoe. He praised its versatility for indoor wear and short trips like going to a coffee shop.

He recalled being inspired by seeing an older man wearing the Tasmans with very short running shorts, appreciating the stylistic clash. The campaign itself reflected his comfort-focused mindset. When he saw some of the selects for the UGG Tasman shoot, he could tell he is definitely smiling more in these pictures, he laughed, attributing it to feeling at ease.

Reflecting on his journey from skate lookbooks to leading a major campaign, Elsesser said he would tell his younger self to be grateful, enjoy the opportunities, and not take things too seriously. He also suggested fellow rapper MIKE would be a good candidate to wear the Tasman well.
