Es Devlin Solo Show Opens at FUTURA SEOUL
Artist Es Devlin's first solo exhibition in Korea, '3rd Poem: Es Devlin, Come Home Again', runs at FUTURA SEOUL in Bukchon until January 17, 2027.

Artist and stage designer Es Devlin has opened her first solo exhibition in Korea. Titled 3rd Poem: Es Devlin, Come Home Again, the show will be on view at FUTURA SEOUL in Bukchon through January 17, 2027.
The exhibition spans more than three decades of Devlin's practice. It brings together her work across drawing, sculpture, moving image, sound, and light. A central theme is the exploration of presence and collective experience.
Exhibition Overview
The show is not a standard retrospective. Instead, it functions as a living environment. Visitors are invited to participate in works that examine memory and shared space.
Devlin has long focused on what happens when groups enter a space together. Her installations often blur the lines between spectator and participant. This exhibition continues that investigation, creating a dynamic environment where the audience's role within the shared narrative shifts through participation.
Key Installations
The experience begins with Infinite Library. Here, drawings and films are projected onto shelves of upside-down books. This structure opens to reveal Mirror Maze, an area made of reflective glass that incorporates the visitor's image into the artwork.
Another piece, Line of Light, connects artificial light inside the gallery with the natural landscape outside. Screenshare is installed upstairs. It transforms hundreds of the artist's sketchbooks into a large-scale moving image of drawings and notes from past projects, offering a deep dive into the creative process of her career.
Participatory Works
A new version of Come Home Again sits at the exhibition's heart. Originally inspired by threatened species in London, the work now includes flora and fauna from both London and Seoul. It uses drawing, spoken word, and choral recordings to expand the concept of presence beyond people.
Participation is key. In Collective Portrait, visitors sit with strangers at a shared table and draw each other. These portraits are left behind to accumulate over the course of the show.
Venue Information
The exhibition creates a temporary society where strangers read, draw, and reflect together. They share a space briefly before moving on.
3rd Poem: Es Devlin, Come Home Again is located at FUTURA SEOUL, 61 Bukchon-ro, Jongno District, Seoul, South Korea.
