Collina Strada SS27 Debuts at Storm King Art Center
Collina Strada staged its SS27 'Detour' collection at Storm King Art Center, the first NYFW show at the sculpture park.

Collina Strada presented its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, titled "Detour," at the Storm King Art Center. According to Hypebeast, this marked the first time the Hudson Valley sculpture park has ever hosted a New York Fashion Week runway show.
The setting against open fields and large-scale sculptures was a deliberate choice to mirror the collection's themes. Designer Hillary Taymour treated the clothing as an extension of the landscape, with models walking on open grass to embody ideas of instinctual exploration and breaking from predefined paths.
Aesthetic and Inspiration
The collection's aesthetic narrative operates at an intersection of historical and contemporary references. It draws visual inspiration from the medieval romance of A Knight's Tale and combines it with Y2K codes and punk edges. An earthy yet vibrant color palette grounds the looks, featuring shades like dusty rose, mineral plaid, olive, cocoa grid, and sky blue.
Visually, delicate elements are balanced against raw textures. The lineup features organza feathers, complex over-draping, and cascading ruffles to reflect a spirit of fluid self-reinvention.
Sustainable Materials and Key Pieces
Eco-conscious design principles led the collection's material choices. The range utilizes signature textiles like deadstock fleece, organic cotton, and eco-acetate for casual pieces. More formal items employ delicate silks, floral-dot shantung, and organza.
Recycled sequins feature prominently in several standout garments. The collection spans 33 looks, transitioning from playful micro-silhouettes like high-cut panties and mini skirts to dramatic floor-length gowns. Key style silhouettes include volumetric over-draped bottoms, tailored corsetry, and deconstructed cargo pieces.
Silhouettes and Contrasts
The offering expands across versatile separates, heavy draping, and formalwear engineered for movement. The dramatic contrast between delicate sheer layers and graphic structures is a defining element. This is exemplified by pieces like the multi-layered Yuri Gown and the ivory lace-trimmed Sarah Gown.
Tailoring receives a chaotic, punk-romance treatment through structured pieces. Utility-focused designs like the cargo shorts and pants add a modern, street-ready edge to the medieval fantasy influences. The collection cements its blend of historical softness and contemporary rebellion through these deliberate juxtapositions of texture and form.
