Pelagia Kolotouros unveiled her first collection for Lacoste at Paris Fashion Week, framing tennis apparel as a canvas for individual expression beyond traditional uniforms. The Spring/Summer 2027 ready-to-wear show was held at the Court Philippe-Chatrier.

Kolotouros stated that "tennis apparel is no longer bound by traditional uniforms, but serves as a canvas for individual expression." The entire presentation reinforced this shift. The runway was set across terrain resembling clay courts, with guest seating referencing clay factories to establish an earthy, sun-baked atmosphere.

Design and material language

The collection's material palette drew directly from the clay court theme. Cottons were garment-dyed and enzyme-washed to soften their structure, while tropical wools were deconstructed for a relaxed feel. Washed silks retained a raw, natural texture, and fine jersey knits featured delicate perforations for breathability. Technical fabrics appeared with rolled hems, contributing to an overall relaxed attitude.

The color story was anchored in a predominantly ochre palette, pulling from sun-baked clay and mineral earth tones. This ochre hue extended across all key pieces and into the leather goods. Metallic silver, neon yellow, and cobalt blue served as vibrant accent colors throughout the lineup.

Key silhouettes and styling

Signature Lacoste preppy aesthetics were redefined with athletic ease. The show featured deep teal coats and softly tailored suits in relaxed, belted silhouettes. Oversized piqué polo shirts were layered over technical long-sleeve knits, and semi-pleated skirts were paired with these layered polos. Bright cobalt nylon tracksuits and vibrant orange zip-up vests channeled pre-match warm-up energy.

White jackets and wide-leg trousers had hems deliberately dusted with faux red clay. Crinkled cottons and graphic tees completed the wardrobe, while lanyards and neon yellow charms were used as key accessories. Kolotouros explained the philosophy, noting "Spotless white uniforms make way for garments that bear the vibrant marks of intense athletic exertion."

Accessories and footwear details

The new accessories introduced distinct narratives. The René bag was inspired by Irving Penn’s 1984 photograph of a polo shirt, featuring an asymmetric flap that mimics a cotton piqué collar drape. It launched in three colorways.

The ACE-T1 cage sneaker paid homage to the tension of a tennis net. It was presented in three distinct variations.

Broader context and brand positioning

The show, part of a Paris Fashion Week that opened at Roland-Garros, highlighted Lacoste's strategic focus. While the brand's European operations face a challenging economic climate, it is buoyed by business in the United States and Asia, showed by recent flagship store openings in Hong Kong and Seoul. The collection's ochre-anchored palette and theme, 'Dress Code: Beyond White', signaled a clear new direction under Kolotouros.

Celebrity attendees at Court Philippe-Chatrier included Uma Thurman, Dwyane Wade, Alejandro Cialo, Adrien Brody, Rahi Chadda, Andrew Georgiades, and Lily Rowland. Lacoste is expected to record around five per cent growth in global turnover this year, supported by strengthening leather goods, accessories, and new footwear models like those showed in the collection.
